Changing Your Personal Details

Need to update your name, college year, or major? You can do it anytime in the settings section. Keeping your personal details accurate ensures better match recommendations and maintains the integrity of your account. Any changes are securely stored and verified to protect your identity.

Personal details you can update

Name

Update your first name or display name (requires verification for major changes)

College & Year

Change your college, university, or current academic year

Major / Field of Study

Update your major, minor, or area of academic focus

Location & Distance

Adjust your current city or campus location for better local matches

Birthday

Correct your date of birth (changes may require identity verification)

How to change your details

    Open your profile

    Tap your profile icon in the bottom navigation bar

    Go to Settings

    Click the settings gear icon in the top right corner

    Select "Edit Profile"

    Find the personal information section

    Update your information

    Tap on any field to edit it — changes are validated in real-time

    Verify if needed

    Some changes (like name or birthday) may require identity verification

    Save changes

    Your updated information takes effect immediately

  • Name changes: Major updates require photo ID verification
  • Birthday corrections: Must match official documentation
  • College transfers: New .edu email verification may be needed

Common life changes to update

  • Graduated to a new year? Update your academic year
  • Changed majors? Reflect your new field of study
  • Transferred schools? Update your college and verify new email
  • Moved cities? Update your location for accurate local matches
  • Graduated? You can still use Cufy — update your status to "Alumni"
