Understanding expired matches
Cufy uses a unique 48-hour timer system for temporary matches to encourage meaningful connections. If both people don't accept the match within this timeframe, the match will expire. Here's everything you need to know about expired matches.
What is an expired match?
When someone reveals their interest in you (for males) or when you're shown in someone's profile assignments (for females), a temporary match is created with a 48-hour countdown. If both parties don't mutually accept within this window, the match expires and cannot be recovered.
Important: Expired matches cannot be restored. Once the 48-hour timer runs out, the connection is permanently lost from both users' dashboards.
Why matches expire
The 48-hour expiration system exists to:
- •Encourage timely responses and active engagement
- •Prevent inactive or uninterested matches from cluttering your dashboard
- •Create a sense of urgency and excitement around new connections
- •Ensure both parties are genuinely interested before promoting to permanent match
- •Keep the matching system dynamic and fresh
How to avoid expired matches
- Check your dashboard daily for new match notifications
- Enable push notifications to get instant alerts about new matches
- Review profiles carefully before the timer expires
- Make decisions promptly – the timer shows remaining time on each match
- If you're interested, accept immediately rather than waiting until the last minute
Pro tip: You can see the exact time remaining on each temporary match in your dashboard. Prioritize reviewing matches that are closest to expiring!
What happens after expiration?
Once a match expires:
- •The profile is removed from both users' temporary matches sections
- •Any conversations associated with that match are permanently deleted
- •The match cannot be recovered or reinstated
- •Both users may potentially be rematched in future assignment cycles (but this is not guaranteed)
