Why matches disappear
If a match suddenly disappears from your dashboard, don't worry – there are several normal reasons why this might happen. Understanding these reasons will help you navigate the Cufy matching system more effectively.
Common reasons for disappeared matches
1. The 48-hour timer expired
The most common reason. If both users didn't mutually accept the temporary match within 48 hours, it automatically expires and disappears from both dashboards.
2. The other person unmatched
Users can unmatch at any time before or after a match becomes permanent. When someone unmatchs, the connection is immediately removed from your view.
3. The user deleted their account
If someone permanently deletes their Cufy account, all their matches and conversations are removed. This affects all users who were matched with them.
4. Account was suspended or banned
If a user's account is suspended or permanently banned for violating Cufy's community guidelines, their profile and matches are removed from the platform.
5. Profile no longer meets verification requirements
Cufy requires all users to maintain verified profiles. If someone's verification expires or is revoked, their profile may be temporarily hidden until reverification.
6. Technical issues or sync problems
Rarely, temporary technical glitches can cause matches to appear missing. Try refreshing your dashboard or logging out and back in.
Note: Cufy never notifies users when someone unmatchs or deletes their account. The match simply disappears to maintain privacy and reduce uncomfortable situations.
What to do if a match disappears
- Don't take it personally: There are many legitimate reasons why matches disappear that have nothing to do with you
- Check your notifications: Look for any system messages about why the match was removed
- Review temporary matches regularly: Accept profiles you're interested in before the 48-hour timer runs out
- Try refreshing: If you suspect a technical issue, log out and log back in
- Move forward: Focus on your other matches and new profile assignments
Can I reconnect? If a match disappeared due to timer expiration, there's a small chance you may be rematched in a future assignment cycle. However, if they unmatched or deleted their account, reconnection is not possible.
Preventing match disappearance
While you can't control if someone unmatchs or deletes their account, you can reduce timer-based disappearances:

- •Review and decide on new profiles within 24 hours of matching
- •Start conversations quickly to show interest and engagement
- •Accept matches you're genuinely interested in to promote them to permanent status
